We had a Japanese day .We made a kimono for Japanese day .We made sushi .We ate the sushi with chopsticks .Some people made orgami .We put our kionos on and on the court we did the cat walk .We made fish kites.We did Japanese writing.It was fun.

We are drawing self portraits . We had to sketch ourselves from a photo Ms Schulte took. Next we practised mixing colours. After that we actually painted it.

On Thursday we had Japanese Day. On Japanese Day we made oragami and fish kites. We had chopstick lessons. We made sushi. It was fun. I liked making oragami.

Mini Olympics.

On Friday Room 3 and 4 did the Mini Olympics at school. First we did the Opening ceremony our group marched arownd the court. Next the games started. After we did the obstade ceurse the parents did it too. Then we did the medal ceromony. Finally the national Anthem came on and my favourite thing was the obstacle course.

On Friday Room3 and Room4 did mini Olmypics. We lined up. We did hockey ,a throwing game.
The adults did it too. They only did the obstacle course. Then the opening ceremony came. We marched round. The medal ceremony was next. Then we put the National Anthem on. It was fun.

Making Butter.

Butter is made out of cream. First we put salt and cream in a jar with a screw top. Next we shook it too. Then we tipped the butter milk out. The fat was the butter. And that's how you make butter.

The ice is cold.There was crystals in it.When the food colouring went on the ice it didn't go into the inside. A bit fell off it. Whe it melts it turns to water.

Winter is coming It is cold.The hedgehog goes into a ball. We light fires.We have hot food. The ground is wet. There are not many flowers. Evergreen trees don't loose their leaves. We put on jerseys. Cats fur is growing .We stay inside. We eat hot food and drinks . My favourite thing is eating icecream. We go sking. We get muddy. We put on warm clothes and other things.

I researched the Royal Albatross.It is a bird. Its feet look like paddles and its feathers are black and white. It eats fish and crabs and squid.I have the same birthday as the babies - October.

First he makes a hole to breathe. He crackscs the egg. The hole gets bigger. He uses his claws . He eats the yolk. After that he goes out of the egg. next he can see. Next he can get his food himself.Thats how the kiwi gets out of the egg.

I can run fast. It is nearly Cross Country. We run fast. We do exercises before we start Cross Country. It is hard to run up the hill. We run around the school. It is five days till the Cross country race.

It is brown. At the end of the beak it has nostrils. Its eyes are behind the ears. He has a long beak. He has claws and wings . It lives in a burrow. It puts grass in the burrow. He eats insects. It goes to sleep during the day. He goes to sleep and at night time he stays up. It lays eggs and the father kiwi looks after the eggs while mum goes to sleep.

Ww are doing skipping. The whole class is doing skipping.We try to do backwards skipping. We can do run skip together and we are practising to jump as wem are doing Jump Rope for Heart.

There is 27 people in Room Three. Three more people are coming. We are growing our own sunflower. We went on a leaf hunnt. We went to see Pincchio at Boys High. On Momday we are having our photos taken.

Plants need sun, water and air. We are planting sunflowers. Some of the sunflowers are growing and some are not . We are doing an experiment to see which sunflower grows.One of them was sunlight and water, one of them is dry and dark .Sun and dry ,the last one was dark and water.If it is in the dark its leaves will turn yellow. You can not make the hole to small or big .

Musical Instuments.

Every one in the class had to make an instrument by Thursday. You could make a shaker, drum, mobil, rain maker, guitar and you could bring two sticks to bang together or an egg slicer and a tooth pick to ping it. My instrument was a rain maker.It had stones in it. When I shake it makes a low sound. When everyone played together it sounded very noisy. We played along to lots of songs.We sounded better after a cople of songs because Anne-Marie conducted. My favourit song to play alone to was We Will Rock You because it had a clear rithim.

I liked when I ate my burger.It was yummy.The thing I did'nt like was when I could'nt get my mouth around the burger.The games were a food race, a cross word, the food pyramid, food match and unjumble some letters.I started to make my burger with lettuce,cucumber,tomato.Then I put the top bun on it.

Last Friday we made hamburgers. I put a bun on my plate. I put BBQ sauce on. I put lettuce on. I put onion on. I put olives on. I put cheese on. Also I put egg. Last but not least I put cucumber on. Then the top. The thing I liked best was the whole thing. My jobs were flipping the meat patties. Also I washed the lettuce and got all the water out of it. Some of the games I played was the food pyramid game and matching the fruits up. Red colour group was the second to make a hamburger. I didn't like when I couldn't fit my mouth around the burger. I really like having hamburgers for lunch.

The ingredients I had in my hamburger was a bun. Lettuce and cucumber.The last thing was a meat pattie. I liked the order I put it in. I did not like it when I could not put my mouth around it . The next thing I didnt like it when kept on unbalancing . We played the food pyramid game and a wordfind . My job was to cut the onion. It was hard to cut it .
Next we carried the onion to Mister Hawke. It tasted good. I did not eat the whole hamburger because it was really big. I had to eat the food in my lunch box. It was a hot day.

Room 3 and 4 McDonalds Visit.

On Tuesday before morning tea room 3 and 4 went to McDonalds because we are studying about food. First we sat down outside and had morning tea. Second we went into the playroom. Murray answered some questions. Third he showed us how to make a cheese burger. And this is how you make one. First you put the bun through the toaster. Second you open it up and put some onion on. Third you put some sauce on. Fourth you put the meat pattie on and last you put some cheese on.
Next we went to the storage room and we felt all different types of sauce. Next we went into the fridge. It was so big that you could walk inside it. . Then we went into the freezer. The freeer was colder than Antarctica on a warm day.
After that Murray took us into a big movie room. All of us sat down on a chair. The movie was all about where they got their food and how to make the hamburger. It showed us a picture of the storage room.
Then we sat on the mat for another question time.
Last of all we came to school. It was fun.

1.Toast the bun.
2.Put sauce on top of the bun.
3.Sprinkle onion and lettuce on top of the sauce.
4.Cook the meat pattie and drop it on top of the lettuce.
5.Put some cheese on top of the meat pattie.
6 Cut a slice of bread and place it on top of the cheese.
7. Smear sauce on the bun.
8. Smear sauce on the bun.
9. Sprinkle more lettuce and onion on top of the sauce.
10 Cook a meat pattie and put it on top of the lettuce.
11.Put a bun on top of the meat pattie.

On Tuesday Room 3 and 4 went to McDonalds to see how hamburgers are made. When we got there we sat outside and had our morning tea. Then we went into the playroom and sat down on the bench and floor. Then a person called Murray came and talked to us about the tour. Then we split up into two groups.My group watched a video all about McDonalds.After that we went into the storage areas. The first one was the pantry. In the pantry we smelt some chocolate sauce. The next storage area was the fridge. One of the things that was in the fridge was milk. Last storage area was the freezer. It felt like you were in the snow room at the Antartica centre. Last of all was seeing the cheese burger being made. It only takes 5 seconds to toast! The ingredents were:pickles,sauce,a bun cut in half,onion,cheese and a meat pattie. Then we went into the playroom and asked questions about the tour. Then we went back to school. It was fun.

We are learning with balances for maths. And this is what we have measured . We have measured the big stamp. We have been on the scales. If they have a dice and a cup the cup will be the heaviest. It's side will be down and the other will be up.

We have done our good tapa design .First we did our design in pencil.It is a repeating pattern.Then we went over in black permanent marker.After that we shaded in some parts.The colour we used are black,red and brown.Then we went over with light brown.Next the teacher scrunched it up and then we had our finished tapa.

Erin's Samoa Story.

In Samoa it is boiling hot. So hot that most of the people in the country wear lava-lavas.The houses are not like yours and mine, they have no walls because its' too hot to have walls so when they need privacy or want dark they just pull down big blinds.On special occassions they'll'have an umu.The buses are different as well because they're brightly coloured. Inside the buses its' decorated and its' not the bus company's choice how to decoraet the bus it's the drivers choice.The bus driver has an assistant. You don't pay when you get on the bus you pay when you get off. Pigs chickens and other animals can come on too.The people don't sleep on beds they sleep on flax mats. An that's Samoan life.

In Room 3 we are learning about Samoa and their Tapa designs. Samoan Art is usually about the environment. Some of the designs we have been drawing include: starfish, plants, shells, coconuts, birds, nets and footprints.
